I am a UH Hilo Alumni, currently working as Fisheries Database Assistant at the Hawaii Divison of Aquatic Resources.

About Me

I was born and raised on the island of Oʻahu in the state of Hawaiʻi. I graduated from the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo in Spring of 2023, with a major in Marine Science, a minor in Chemistry, and a certificate in Data Science. I have interests in the applications of various data science tools, namely machine learning and AI vision, as a way to augment marine ecological research.

Projects

Hawaii County Dashboard

I created a prototype dashboard for the County of Hawaiʻi as a capstone project for ART475, Data Visualization.

Senior Thesis

For my undergraduate senior thesis project, I trained a machine learning model based on the YOLO v5 object detection algorithm.

Hawaiʻi Marine Fauna Checklist

As a PYSO Intern I worked to create a comprehensive marine fauna checklist for the Hawaiʻi EEZ to support eDNA analyses

DAR Commercial Catch Limit Dashboard

While working at the Hawaiʻi Division of Aquatic Resources (DAR) I created a dashboard to communicate important commercial annual catch limits
